How do dolphins sleep without forgetting to breathe?
Correct!
Dolphins can let only one half of their brain sleep at a time while the other remains awake or alert. This behavior is called unihemispheric sleep. It allows them to consciously come to the surface to breathe while keeping watch over their surroundings. During a rest period they often continue swimming slowly and surface regularly for air. The two halves of the brain can later switch roles.
Unihemispheric sleep combines rest with conscious breathing control and awareness of the surroundings.
