How many periods does the regular playing time of an ice hockey game consist of?
Correct!
The regular playing time of an ice hockey game consists of three thirds of 20 minutes of effective playing time each. In total this amounts to 60 minutes of regular playing time. There are breaks between the third periods during which, among other things, the ice surface is reconditioned. If there is a tie after regular playing time, depending on the competition, extra time and then a penalty shootout may follow.
