Latency describes the delay in transferring data across a network and is typically measured in milliseconds. The lower the latency, the faster a connection responds to requests. It is not the same as bandwidth: bandwidth describes how much data a network can transfer at most. An internet connection can therefore have high bandwidth and still have noticeable delay.
