Science - Measurements and units - Temperature scales
Which is colder: −40°C or −40°F?
Correct!
The Celsius and Fahrenheit scales meet at −40: −40°C is exactly equal to −40°F. It is the only temperature at which both scales show the same numerical value. The usual conversion formula is °F = °C × 9/5 + 32. Substituting −40°C also gives −40°F, which makes the result surprising.
