Why do flamingos often stand on one leg?
Correct!
Flamingos spend a great deal of time standing on one leg and can even rest this way. An important explanation is thermoregulation: a tucked-up leg loses less heat to cold air or water.
Observations show that flamingos stand on one leg more often in water than on land. Their body structure also provides passive stability, so the posture may require little active muscle effort.
