How do Great Crested Grebes often carry their young chicks on the water?
Correct!
Very young Great Crested Grebes often ride on their parents' backs. The strikingly striped chicks sit among the adult's back feathers. This behavior is especially characteristic of Great Crested Grebes and can be observed soon after hatching. The Great Crested Grebe (Podiceps cristatus) is also known for its spectacular courtship display: pairs face one another on the water, shake their heads in synchrony, and may perform a so-called “penguin dance.”
The RSPB describes adults carrying chicks on their backs until the young can dive and find food independently.
