Mythology and religion - Greek mythology - Divine birth myths
How was Dionysus born a second time in Greek mythology?
Correct!
Dionysus was the son of Zeus and the mortal Theban woman Semele. When Semele died prematurely, Zeus rescued the unborn child and sewed him into his thigh. Dionysus continued to mature there until Zeus gave birth to him a second time. This is why tradition calls Dionysus “twice-born”; the story also explains his epithet referring to his sewn birth.
