Nature and environment - Conservation - National parks - Protected areas
What is the main purpose of a national park?
Correct!
A national park is a large protected area in which nature should be able to develop as far as possible without intensive human use. The focus is on protecting natural habitats, animal and plant species, and ecological processes. For this reason, national parks usually have much stricter rules than ordinary landscape protection areas. Visitors may still enter many national parks, but often only on designated paths or under special protection rules. The guiding idea is, in essence, to let nature be nature.
National parks are meant to preserve nature, species, and natural processes with as little disturbance as possible.
