Animals - Dogs - Grass eating
Why do dogs eat grass?
Correct!
The exact reason is not fully understood. Occasional grass eating is usually considered normal, probably instinctive behavior in dogs. Possible reasons include taste or curiosity, hunger, a desire for extra fiber, and a behavioral pattern inherited from wild canids.
Dogs do not mainly eat grass to make themselves vomit: in one study, about 22 percent often vomited afterward, while only around 9 percent had shown signs of illness beforehand. Frequent grass eating together with vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, or weight loss should be checked by a veterinarian. Pesticides and contamination from animal feces can also be dangerous.
