Travel and landmarks - Travel terms - Air Travel
What does a direct flight mean in air travel?
Correct!
A direct flight is a flight connection ticketed as one continuous flight, even though it may include an en-route stop or a change of aircraft type. The traveler may remain under the same flight number until the destination, but the aircraft does not necessarily have to fly without landing. This is the key difference from a nonstop flight: nonstop specifically means that the aircraft does not land at another airport between departure and destination. A direct flight, by contrast, can include an intermediate landing without automatically becoming a new flight segment with a new flight number. The timetable and the conditions of the airline therefore determine the details of a particular connection.
