What is a stopover?
Correct!
A stopover is a deliberately planned interruption of a journey at a point between the place of departure and the final destination, agreed in advance with the carrier. Unlike a short connection, it gives the traveler time to leave the airport and visit the intermediate city or region before continuing. For example, a flight from Frankfurt to Tokyo might include several days in Doha before the onward flight. The exact fare-related distinction can vary by airline and ticket rule; in IATA terminology, a stay of more than 24 hours at an intermediate point is often treated as a stopover. A stopover can therefore turn one flight itinerary into two visitable travel stages.
