What is cholesterol?
Correct!
Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance found in all body cells. The body needs cholesterol to make certain hormones, vitamin D, and substances that help with digestion. The human body can make cholesterol itself; it is also found in foods of animal origin. High levels of certain cholesterol-carrying forms in the blood can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Cholesterol is important for the body, but certain blood levels can become a health concern.
