What is raw fish without rice called in Japan?
Correct!
Sashimi typically consists of very fresh raw fish or other seafood sliced into pieces. Unlike sushi, rice is not part of the actual sashimi dish. The Japan National Tourism Organization explicitly notes that although sashimi is often associated with sushi, it is not sushi. Sashimi is often served with soy sauce, wasabi or finely cut daikon radish. The key difference from nigiri sushi is therefore easy to remember: in nigiri, the fish sits on a small mound of seasoned rice; in sashimi, it is served without rice.
Sashimi is thinly sliced raw fish or seafood served without rice.
