Food and drink - Nutrition basics - Dietary fats - Omega-3 fatty acids
What are omega-3 fatty acids?
Correct!
Omega-3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fatty acids. The omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid, or ALA, is essential because the human body cannot make it and must obtain it from food. Other well-known omega-3 fatty acids include EPA and DHA. They occur in foods such as oily fish, flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts.
ALA is an essential omega-3 fatty acid; EPA and DHA are also well-known omega-3 fatty acids.
