Food and drink - Nutrition basics - Fructose - Carbohydrates
What is fructose?
Correct!
Fructose, also called fruit sugar, is a simple sugar, or monosaccharide, and belongs to the carbohydrates. It occurs naturally in fruits and honey, among other foods. Together with glucose, fructose also forms the table sugar sucrose. The WHO counts fructose alongside glucose among monosaccharides; added fructose and fructose from honey, syrups, and fruit juices are considered free sugars in its dietary recommendations.
